ON OUR KNEES... Dear Lord, our nation is under siege. We cower under the terror of Boko Haram and wonder at the resurgence of MEND. We groaned when the terrorists bombs rocked Nyanyan, shuddered when close to 300 girls were abducted in a Chiboks school, infuriated by the Kano bomb blasts, shocked at the blowing up of a pipeline in Okrika, and now bemused by the deaths in a major Jos market. Just so you know, Lord, we have no help but you. We have come to out wits end. Rhetorics and empty promises have only festered our wounds. We stand no chance before these terrorists who are better equipped and better motivated than our armed forces. We had thought we would run them over in a few months. Now we know they have run us over in a few weeks. Since the war dynamics have changed, we are comfortable accepting we are the minors before the giants - a David before a Goliath. Having so humbled ourselves, please lift us up, Lord. We plead with you to bless the efforts of the foreign experts and the commitment of some in our armed forces, and give us resounding victories. As you strengthen our men, please incapacitate the terrorists, so much that their hands will no longer be able to perform their wickedness. Let the enemies of our nation groan in the day as it were in darkness. In confusion, let them turn their arsenals of war again themselves until they are weak and frustrated. Assured of your HELP presently, we praise your name. Certain of our VICTORY, we lift up our hands to you. Even as we trust that all remote and immediate causes of these calamities will be addressed by a competent, focussed and righteous leadership you will provide our nation. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
