ON RIBADUS DEFECTION TO PDP Once again Ribadus selfish decision - TopicsExpress

ON RIBADUS DEFECTION TO PDP Once again Ribadus selfish decision to jump-ship to the ruling party(PDP) has demonstrated the virus of unprincipleness and inordinate ambition of Nigeria political class. Yes, the feeling of powerlessness is unbearable, but a man of his pedigree must resist the temptation of getting power at all cost and fraternising with political lepers, just to increase value. If he is finding it esoteric working with Vice President Atiku whose political chess game is allegedly too sophisticated for his tender political brain to discern, what made him feel he can measure up in PDP? Are power mad vegetarians like Tony Aneneh, Elder Edwin Clarke, Jerry Gana, Adamu Muazu men of small political calculus and easy booby traps he can walk through without stumbling? His move was instigated by ambition to be in the centre of power and get patronage from the Federal Government. Period. All along, I have doubted his entire public life, especially his war on corruption. He was the very person that forwarded the list of people with case files in EFCC to INEC for disqualification in 2007. As a lawyer, he knew that such a move was illegal and out of his powers, yet he made the move. That decision almost sank the ship of the transition. It took the gallant effort of Vice President Atiku in the court to win the case, thereby removing his vindictive noose tied on the political necks of governments imaginary and perceived foes. By the way, how politically potent is this Yola man called Malam Nuhu Ribadu? In 2011 he was on the presidential ballot under the banner of ACN. Records shows that, the only state he led Jonathan of PDP and Buhari of CPC is Osun. He was belly up in his native Adamawa with a good margin. So, if he couldnt deliver in a process that he is a major actor, what can he do in 2015? Im not too sure APC are losing more than some few dozens votes via his defection. Sure, every vote is important in a democracy, but sometimes it is good to let vacillating elements go, to make space for genuine people to climb up the ladder.
