ON THE ROAD with M’Liss – ON A ROAD TRIP – Part II 8:45 - TopicsExpress

ON THE ROAD with M’Liss – ON A ROAD TRIP – Part II 8:45 AM at the ferry dock, to catch the 9:30 AM boat to Mukilteo. The dock attendant motioned for my lane to go…My car would not start. I tried a few more times, the car behind honked; a State Patrol Trooper with his dog approached the window. He tried to help, had me lift the hood, no luck. The dock attendant told me he was going to push the car out of the line, to put it in neutral, the steering and brakes would be hard. He was right, and I ended up in front of their office. I called Michael! Of course, this was the one day he left for work hours early, meeting an FBI agent about one of his cases. He did have time to call our local car repair – Tow Truck Company. The ferry boat I planned on taking had left, another unloaded, the next loading. The owner arrived thinking I had a dead battery, no; although; as the Trooper and I stood looking at the engine, he said it would start…And, it started for Carl the first time! After another half hour of starting, not starting, different noises, and talking, Carl left and went to get the tow truck. It was in the low fifties, slight wind; I had on a skirt, with a light jacket, standing on the dock. Two hours later, I was at his shop, up the hill from the ferry terminal. I arranged for our beloved house/pet sitter, already at our home for the long day, to bring me Michael’s car. She arrived and I reloaded my suitcase, briefcase, camera bag, lunch bag, Birkenstocks, and grocery bag of gifts. Then back down to the ferry dock! The WSF workers provided me with a ticket for another trip, a replacement. I went through the toll booth, and on the next ferry. I was officially “ON THE ROAD!” Interstate-405 to I-90, I was heading east across the state. The same Whidbey Weather continued enough misty rain for wipers. Over Snoqualmie Pass, stopped on the other side for construction, more delays! There were miles and miles of cars and trucks, bumper to bumper. I had a six o’clock dinner reservation!
