ON THE SPOT: BARILLE GUYO BY ESEKON RODGERS Security and - TopicsExpress

ON THE SPOT: BARILLE GUYO BY ESEKON RODGERS Security and accommodation director Barille Guyo , is a friendly and down-to-earth man. However, the security and accommodation docket is with no doubt the most ineffective dockets of all in the 28th SGC so far. Close to three weeks now, constant blackouts have been experienced in Soweto hostels. Concern has been raised by comrades through all available for but so far nothing seems to happen. The fact that there has been no communication on this, is a clear indication of the director’s laxity in attending to comrades’ plight, whose voice he ought to be. Over a hundred comrades have been made to wait for more than three weeks for mattresses to be availed. Moi University being the big institution it is, there cannot be a shortage of mattresses and even so, it should not have taken this long to correct it. The second floor of hostel J and sections of hostel G have been without water for days now. The restrooms are in a deplorable condition and risk of a disease breakdown is a dangerous possibility. The last thing the University needs is a disease break out, what with our ill-equipped dispensary that only dishes painkillers to everyone who is rushed there-notwithstanding the illness one might be suffering from? Everyone knows things go slow in Main Campus, unless one is dying, service delivery is always at snail’s pace. Therefore the need for a person to push those responsible for service delivery into action, and ask questions when issues that touches on comrades’ wellbeing are not attended to. This is in fact what the directors are tasked to do, it is what they swore to do and asking them to deliver on it is the least one can do. Inactivity in this docket, existence of many things going wrong might mean the director is sleeping on his job and needs to be awakened. It would be wrong to assume that the responsibilities have become too heavy for him to bear as he must have known exactly what was at stake before seeking election. Over to you Bwana Guyo, comrades can be very unforgiving if they thought your intentions were anything other than to be a comrade’s servant. The same goes for the rest of the directors, we are watching.
