Washington, was born. 1891 At an Anglo-Portuguese convention on territories north and south of Zambezi, Portugal assigned Barotseland to Britain; Nyasaland was subsequently proclaimed a British Protectorate. 1915 British and French troops conquered the German colony of Cameroon. 1920 Hazel Scott, the first African-American woman to host her own TV show, was born. 1930 Politician Charles Rangel was born. 1951 Mozambique became an overseas province of Portugal. 1963 George Wallace made his "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door" at the University of Alabama, temporarily blocking the admission of two black students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, who had legally enrolled at the university. 1964 Nelson Mandela was found guilty on four charges of sabotage and sentenced to life imprisonment. 1967 Rioting began in Tampa, Florida.
