ON THIS DAY IN BATH CITYS HISTORY: August 18th Our first league match of the 2012-13 season fell on this day, we travelled to Welling United where Aaron Brown’s long range effort ensured City gained a point in a 1-1 draw. In 2007 Hampton & Richmond were the visitors to Twerton Park, City made it 7 points from 3 matches with a 2-0 win. Mark McKeever and Matt Coupe were the scorers (below) that day. The first day of the 1990-91 season saw a Twerton Park goal-fest as City and Kettering Town played out a 3-3 draw with John Freegard, Chris Smith and Paul Randall scoring. We suffered an opening day loss at Boston United in 1979, Jimmy Jenkins and Bobby Brown’s goals were in vain as the match finished 3-2 to ‘The Pilgrims’. City were victorious in 1970 at Poole Town where John Allen’s brace and a Dave Taylor penalty earned a 3-2 win, and on the same day a year previous Poole were beaten 3-1 at Twerton Park thanks to Archie Thorburn, Tony Gough and Brian Owen. A Trevor Haydon goal in 1951 was enough to beat Merthyr Tydfil at home.
