ON THIS DAY IN BATH CITYS HISTORY: August 19th 8 years ago is the last time City have played on this day, the 2006-07 season opener away at Corby Town. We kicked off our championship season with a 2-0 win, Scott Partridge (below) and Chris Holland headed home Citys goals. In 2003 a Russell Milton double and a goal from Steve Tweddle earned a 3-1 win over Weston Super Mare at Twerton Park, and Jimmy Fraser and Graham MacLean were the scorers in 2000 when Folkestone Invicta were beaten 2-1. Champions City travelled to Merthyr Tydfil for a Southern League Cup match at the beginning of the 1978-79 season and came away with a 3-2 first leg win with Peter Rogers, Martyn Rogers and Martin Wheeler on the scoresheet. Ian Henderson and Billy Horton were Citys scorers in an opening day draw at Canterbury City in 1967. In 1961 and 1950 City recorded 5-1 wins at Twerton Park each time on this day. A win over Cheltenham Town in 61 thanks to Neil Langman (2), Charlie Fleming, Ron Walker and an own goal, and in 50 against Hastings United when Jimmy Newman, Ron Young, Bert Hawkins (2) and George Adams were the scorers. #BathCity125 #OnThisDay
