ON THIS DAY IN BATH CITYS HISTORY: August 21st Two years ago on this day we played our first home match in Conference South following relegation from the Premier, Maidenhead United were our visitors to Twerton Park on that Tuesday evening but City won the game 3-1. The match is memorable not just for City fans but also young Jersey-born striker Kurtis Guthrie who went down in Twerton folklore for scoring a hat-trick on his debut (highlights here goo.gl/stwKhW). Two years previously in 2010 Twerton Park saw another entertaining match when York City were our opposition. The match finished 2-2 with Adie Harris (below) and Lee Phillips on the scoresheet for us. In 1999 Mark Harrington and Graham Colbourne earned City a 2-0 win at Cambridge City and in 1993 the Twerton faithful were treated to an opening day 5-1 thumping of Macclesfield Town. Goals that day from Gary Smart (pen), Martin Boyle and another hat-trick from Paul Adcock. Jimmy Jenkins and George Gibbs goals gave City a 2-1 win and rounded off a 5-3 aggregate Southern League Cup win over Merthyr Tydfil in 1978. Mike Denton and Brian Carter were the City scorers in a 2-0 home defeat of Dover in 1965 and in 1948 Dave McCullochs brace ensured City came away from Barry Town with a 2-2 draw. #BathCity125 #OnThisDay
