ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: December 3rd 1979; as the Stones and Altamont ended the hippie, Peace & Love sixties, The Who in Cincinnati, Ohio on this day ended the festival seating practice of the seventies.(ask any of us over 50s if you dont think this is a big deal) Before The Who concert this evening at Cincinnatis Riverfront Coliseum, eleven people are trampled to death and dozens are injured in a rush for festival (i.e., unreserved) seating. The resulting controversy (and lawsuits) force promoters to rethink the practice. Heres a five minute documentary about that tragedy..... Enjoy and R.I.P. To those 11 concert goers!
