ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: September 20th 1973; Jim Croce is killed in a plane crash in Natchitoches, Louisiana at age 30. Taking off, at night, in a small plane, from a small airstrip, the plane snag the treetop and sends Jim and 5 others to their deaths. Jims lead guitarist, Maury Muehleisen, was also killed. After Jims death his wife, Ingrid, fought in court for 12 years to retrieve the rights to his songs and the right to his royalties. This fight made an excellent business woman of her. She opened two restaurants and three bars in the Gaslamp District of San Diego one named Croces restaurant and jazz bar. Their son Adrian became a pianist, singer and songwriter specializing in up-tempo jazz. 14 weeks after his death, Time In A Bottle hit No1.
