ONE DAY AT A TIME…. in your book were written ... the days - TopicsExpress

ONE DAY AT A TIME…. in your book were written ... the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalm 139:16b) God has a plan for every single day of our lives. His expectation is that we should live by this daily schedule. Our walk with the Lord can become really stressful when we try to walk long-term in the short-term! The secret of a restful life is to walk with Him one day at a time. The strength He gives us is for the day. The provision He releases is for the day. That is how He expects us to live – one day at a time. So what exactly is God’s plan for your life today? This morning, did you remember to ask Him about the plan for today? If you omit anything He has planned for you for today, this may slow down the journey of destiny. Particularly when it becomes a habit. So every morning, it may be helpful to meditatively ask questions like these in prayer: 1. Lord, what do you want me to know today? 2. What do you want me to do today? 3. What do you want me to give today? 4. What do you want me to get today? In asking questions like these, a believer expresses his/her dependence on the Lord. Divine guidance becomes a way of life when, from the depth of our hearts, we make it a duty to wait daily at His gates for direction. We must not rest when He expects us to labour. And we dare not toil when He calls us to rest. It is all about a daily walk. That’s what Jesus said in Luke 9:23, “And he said to all, If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross DAILY and follow me.” Spiritual disaster becomes inevitable when we try to cram too many stuff into one day. Anxiety creeps in. Weariness pops up its head. Our crosses appear to become heavier than they really are. Etc. No wonder Jesus counselled us in Matthew 6:34, “… SUFFICIENT FOR THE DAY IS ITS OWN TROUBLE.” That popular verse starts this way, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself….”. Earlier in verse 11, He had taught us to ask the Father, “Give us THIS DAY our DAILY bread…” Bread is released to us on a daily basis. Many receive the bread for one day, and try to use it for the work of seven days! Walking with Jesus does not work that way. It is a daily walk. It is a walk of trust. And it is a walk of faith. Feeling burdened? Pressured? Weary? Overwhelmed? The simple answer may just be to return to the simple solution of LIVING ONE DAY AT A TIME.
