ONE MORE DAY LEFT IN THIS YEAR! some of us have had many blessings bestowed upon them and is saying to 2014: DONT GO! Some of us, later this evening, will be celebrating and ushering in the new year of 2015! BE SAFE OUT THERE THIS EVENING. As I awoke this morning with a headache and an elevated blood pressure, I realized that I needed something to help me relax. I couldnt help but think of the following song that I chose today for your listening pleasure. The artist was affectionately known, during his prime years, as the Black Moses, as this was the title of his 1971 hit album. He was a songwriter, vocalists, musician, record producer, and actor, and a composer. He wrote the musical score for the movie Shaft! For his work of excellence, he won an Academy award for: Best Original Song 1972 for his song, Theme From Shaft! He was the third African American, in the history of the Academy awards, to win any Academy award. He was awarded two Grammy awards that same year and also was given his third Grammy award for his album Black Moses. My selection epitomizes his musical talents and style and his overall body of work. This song was originally composed by Burt Bacharach in 1967 after watching Ursula Andress perform in earlier cuts of the movie, Casino Royale. The current artist covered (recorded) it in 1970.
