ONE OF MANY MISTAKES OF DR. LOUIS NONYE OBODO After he was - TopicsExpress

ONE OF MANY MISTAKES OF DR. LOUIS NONYE OBODO After he was muscled out and overrun by Hon A.G Irona in 2011 PDP primary to determine the party candidate for Ohaji/Egbema- Oguta-Oru West Federal Constituency election, Dr Louis Obodo became disconsolate, pauperized and subsequently abandoned party politics and relocated to Abuja where he sought for refuge and daily bread. Several years of hard work in Abuja did not improve the fortunes of Dr. Louis Obodo and this led to his return. He lobbied his way into Imo State APGA ( now APC) and was subsequently rewarded with the office of the Transition Committee Chairman Oguta. While in office Dr. Louis Nonye Obodo-a native of Agwa community- instituted divisive policies which have now brought much harm to the party. He arrogated to himself the position of a godfather and began to dismantle internal structures of perceived rivals. It is safe to say here- because it is on record- that before the entrance of Dr. Louis Obodo, Oguta APC was a very one united family. The desperations of Dr. Louis Nonye Obodo to become the next Member Representing Oguta under the platform of APC is highlighted some months ago when he singled handedly-without the inputs of men who owned the party-prepared a list of party executives and smartly but clownishly attempted to impose same on the party. This brazen and singular act of selfishness and greed by Dr. Louis Nonye is chiefly responsible for much of the woes bedeviling the party right now. Many observers have opined that Dr. Obodo was planted into APC by opposition to destroy the party. Recent happenings are all lending credence to this theory. Dr. Louis Obodo voluntarily resigned his post as TC Chairman to enable him pursue his aspirations. As a show of goodwill and for the sake of peace, his nominee for replacement of the vacated seat- Hon Chuks Okonya was not opposed by the opposing camp even though there was sufficient reasons and wherewithal to do so. After several diligent and commendable efforts to reconcile the belligerent groups in Oguta APC by the Executive Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, a zoning formula was adopted. In this arrangement, House Membership slot was zoned to Oguta North, whereas Local Chairmanship position was zoned to South. This permutations took into account that the last Member Representing Oguta in Imo State House of Assembly Hon. Henry Igbomezie had come from Oguta South, whereas the last Elected Local government Chairman Hon Joan Nzeribe had come from Oguta North. Oguta as one of local govt areas of Imo State is made up of two geopolitical zones: North and South. The North has five electoral wards namely: Oguta A, Oguta B, Oru, Ossemotor/Enuigbo,and Egwe/Egbuoma.In the South we have six wards: Awa, Uwaorie, Ndiulukwu/Umunwowerri, Obudi/Aro,Izombe and Mgbala/Ubah. Dr. Louis Obodo hails from Obudi/Aro ward. The peoples governor of Imo State, His Excellency Anayo Rochas Okorocha was ecstatic and satisfied in the knowledge that at last a geopolitical balancing-which is very fair, equitable and appealing to all the belligerent sides in Oguta APC- has been reached. At a meeting of Oguta APC leaders/stakeholders recently, a candidate from Oguta North was chosen in line with the content of the charter of equity and zoning. A good politician puts the interests of his party ahead of his personal interests. So if the leadership of Oguta APC has collective agreed that House Membership slot be given to Oguta North, on what grounds therefore is Dr. Louis Obodo saying NAY to that? Dr. Louis Obodo might have been deceived to believe that he could much like Harry Houdin- the magician- manipulate and manourve his way into the coveted slot. But this is clearly a mistake. Dr Obodo Nonye Louis was clearly not around when the battle for the overthrow of Oguta godfathers were fought and won. Men who vanquished the dynasty of Chief Senator Arthur Nzeribe are still much around. Obodo must have again been misled to believe that he could assemble a crowd of thugs and bulldozed his way into that juicy spot. This is another big mistake. Men who vanquished and overthrow Chief Arthur Francis Nzeribe are still very much around. Men who wrestled and snatched a glowing ember from the uncharitable arms of unkind spirits are not ordinary men. And they should be regarded.
