ONLY FIVE WHITE RHINOS LEFT IN THE WORLD...... Rhino poaching has exploded, driven by demand in China and Vietnam. People will pay as much as $65,000 per kilogram for horn — higher than gold. Syndicates pay hundreds of men, generally poor Africans, to risk their lives. Northern White rhinos are on the edge of extinction with just five of them left in the world, but conservation experts are trying to find ways to save them. They once roamed through Uganda, Chad, Sudan, Central African Republic, and Democratic Republic of the Congo. As the second largest land animal, they can reach nearly two meters (six feet) in height, and the males can weigh up to 3,600 kilograms (almost 8,000 pounds). Most disturbing trend is horrific increase in poaching white and black rhinos in South Africa. Since 2008, rhino poaching in South Africa has skyrocketed year on year, culminating in a total of 448 rhinos killed in 2011. Trusted wildlife professionals even become poachers themselves.
