ONLY IN FICTION That gotcha moment It never comes Where the hero arrives to save the day Reality interrupts The hero’s stuck in traffic or standing in a crowd of introspective grime filmed shoes waiting for the train cancellations to leave the station Maybe it’s the week before the hero’s money comes in and the hero can’t afford to go anywhere or the hero’s doing a shift at work and can’t get out of it Then again maybe the hero ran out of petrol trying to find the exit out of the carpark of the shopping centre complex P.S. the nearest petrol station’s twenty two Ks away on the opposite side of the shopping centre complex; in the southern carpark Well, life aint like a movie, a TV drama or a story I wish it could be, but it aint and I’m no hero I’m just a man with eighteen Ks to still to walk.
