OOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAY.... I have seen this article posted by 4 different people with some form of caption like, Whaaaaat?? or Im not drinking any of those anymore!, etc. and as Ive been commenting on these posts individually, Id like to shed some light on the matter before others start spreading the word that were all going to die from these ingredients. Here is the article: worldtruth.tv/8-beers-that-you-should-stop-drinking-immediately/ Now, let me first point out that worldtruth.tv is NOT a reputable site by its own standing, by which, we need to look at the sites they source out to (if they do, which, in this case, they do) and youll find that most THOSE sites are also not reputable, unbiased sources. Now that I have that out fo the way, I can commence. I will only speak on two of these ingredients, as I am only educated (for the time being) on two of these ingredients, but as they are the most prevalent and most well known, Im sure this will be of interest to some of you. High Fructose Corn Syrup - your body reacts the HFCS the exact same way it does to regular cane sugar - it. can. not. tell. the. difference. So, if youd like to condemn HFCS, feel free, but youre also condemning its shadow, regular ol sugar. It is as healthy or unhealthy as regular sugar. So, when someone says, OH NO, THIS HAS HFCS AND ITS BAD FOR YOU!, you shouldnt assume they are correct, but rather, ask them why they think that, because, just like regular sugar, too much is not good for your health, but moderate amounts (like sugar) are fine. GMOs - This is a hot button topic for many in the nutrition industry/field. GMOs are despised for being different from natural foods, but let me very clear when I say this: There is no concrete, respected, established scientific proof that GMOs have any short term or long term negative effects. It is considered, by the vast majority of the scientific community (you know, the ones who tell you its okay to drink water out of your faucets, to wash your hands after you use the rest rooms, etc... yea, those guys.), that GMOs are safe to consume. That being said, some of you may point to the countries who have restricted or banned GMO foods, and this is a good piece of weaponry vs GMO foods, but alas, flawed as well, because these countries banned GMOs (from what Ive been able to tell), not because they were proven harmful (see paragraph above this one), but because they havent been proven as healthy. Now, this is because the burden of proof is on the accuser, not the victim (in this case, GMOs), but when it comes to health, people dont mess around (with good reason). There have been large, well known studies done on GMOs that have proven they are detrimental to your health, *but these studies have been largely criticized in their method of study and debunked as biased, and therefor, illegitimate to make scientific, educated conclusions off.* So, should you eat GMOs? Just because the current research does not show negative side effects of GMOs does not mean there couldnt be conclusive, respected, peer reviewed research proving their detrimental impact in the future, so... GMOs are currently a grey area. GMOs have never been proven to be unsafe, and they are currently considered safe, but could it change in the future? Possibly. My point is, do not make assumptions without looking at good research, because neither of these ingredients have been proven to be negative for ones health. Also, stop reading articles from obviously biased sources and accepting it as gospel (feel free to read, but fact check everything). As I have stated, I can not speak on the other ingredients, but Ill speculate this... It is possible these ingredients are nonharmful as well, even if there is also the possibility that they are harmful (do yee research, lad), and finally, dont be naive enough to think that if you stop drinking these beers, youre suddenly avoiding all these ingredients... youre not. At all. What.so.ever.
