OOOOk, I have to post this bc one of my closest friends Mother just got got and I dont want this to happen to anyone else. It is a long piece so take your time and read at your leisure. A friend of mine said she was going and suggested I come along. I said ok. I paid the full price of $1500 up front, using my charge card. I was just so excited to be going on this trip. But then I had a reality check. I was going to retire within a matter of months. I realized that for me, $1500 was a lot for me to spend on a three night trip. And after I thought about it, I came to the conclusion that this was a great trip but was more for people who were networking. So I requested a refund, far in advance of the refund deadline. I don’t know Ms. Gaskins personally but my friend had gone to a past Girls GetAway and said she enjoyed it. Following is a transcript of my conversations with Ms. Gaskins, which occurred on Facebook Messenger because that was my means of corresponding with her from the beginning. June 2nd, 5:31pm Me: Hi Robyn. I just have a couple of questions. Is this a cruise or an all inclusive resort? Second, is it fully refundable less 20%. When is the last date for a refund? I am considering going but have not made up my mind because I am retiring and leaving the work-world, so dont really know if this is would pertain to my interests. It sounds exciting though. Look forward to hearing from you. Dorothy Hey, not a cruise. Its an all inclusive resort. Fully refundable less 20% up to September. Then, non-refundable. The theme is creating the life you desire. I know you would love it! Especially retiring! Perfect timing for you! Me: how do I do the Bill Me Later part Choose, pay in full. It will then take you to paypal. At that point, when asking for method of payment, it should give you the option to choose, Bill Me Later! June 2nd, 8:54pm Yay! You registered! Did the Bill Me Later work for you? Me: I dont know. I am confused. I was waiting for payment confirmation but have received nothing.... Did you have to put in a credit card number of anything? Me: No, its supposed to use my paypal/Billmelater account. There is enough money in there to cover it I mean enough available credit Check your paypal balance. If its the same then it must have approved the bill me later payment. let me know. One other person used it as well. Me: Ok there was a mistake. they asked me to ask the seller to issue me a refund. The did not use the BillMeLater account, they charged my American Express business card the full amount. That card is payable in full every month so there is no way I can use that card. They asked me to have you issue a refund so I can use another card. Ok I can do that now. Hang tight Me: ok Done Me: Thank you. I will use another charge card now. I guess I have to re-register. Unfortunately something has come up that requires me to use the funds elsewhere. You told me that the trip is refundable up until September, at 20%. I realize I will be losing that 20%. We refund via check mailed within 14 business days. That has been our long standing policy. I apologize if I didnt explain our policy. I didnt mean to indicate PayPal though we can refund that way within the 14 days if you prefer Me: Robyn, thats fine. You are right, I did not read the refund policy. You only asked me to ask Paypal to stop recurring payments. I wasnt aware that a check would be mailed out. Thanks so much for your assistance with this. No problemo. Dorothy September 17th, 9:07am Me: Robyn, if you would only EXPLAIN what is going on instead of leaving people with no explanation at all. Saying you will contact me and then not hearing anything from you. You are supposed to be an outstanding business woman. I dont understand what is going on here. If you would only let me know exactly what is going on. Just tell me what is going on and WHEN I can reasonably expect to have the check. If you are having a problem with the resort, say so. At least I will have an explanation. I do not want to go to court over something like this. Its ridiculous. We have not received a refund therefore I am going to pay it out of my personal funds at the end of the month rather than have you wait for the resort. I thought I send this message but perhaps not. Please email me at coach@robynspeaks that way myself and office can keep track with our communication. Honestly, I dont appreciate the tone or the threat. But once anyone threatens legal action, we immediately turn this over to our attorneys to handle at that point. Again, I cant see all previous messages but I thought I sent stating that I would personally refund from my funds. And this is a recent conversation with Robyn – October 6, 2014 Monday 10:44am Me: Dishonesty is to act without honesty. It is used to describe a lack of probity, cheating, lying or being deliberately deceptive or a lack in integrity, knavishness, perfidiosity, corruption or treacherousness. Dishonesty is the fundamental component of a majority of offences relating to the acquisition, conversion and disposal of property (tangible or intangible) defined in criminal law such as fraud. Im not being dishonest Dorothy. As I told you, we misunderstood our ability to get a refund from the resort if someone cancels. I promised to pay from my own funds. Unfortunately circumstances prevented that from being done expeditiously as planned. My hopes is that when the guest payments come in this week, we can use them to reimburse you in oppose to sending them to the resort. None of this is your problem, but I wanted you understand how I am trying to resolve this. Also, I rarely check this inbox so email is a lot more efficient. Lastly, I can do without the comments above. You have every right to pursue legal remedies, thats how things are handled professionally. It was our error and will have to deal with the ramifications but these are personal attacks and wont be accepted. Thank you and again, I accept responsibility for my staffs oversight in the policies. Me. Robyn that is all I wanted. an explanation. Believe me I do not want under any circumstances to cause ill feelings between us. Now that I have an explanation, I can wait. thank you. I dont have any bad feelings. I understand how these things go and I wish it didnt occur. I learned a valuable lesson from it and Im now handling all of the details personally from now on. No worries. Ive learned a long time ago to never be offended. Most things arent intentional.
