OPB Does not support back yard breeding. We try to find out about people who regularly back yard breed for fight purposes and get them shut down. We do have members of our page who are legit breeders. Myself (tim) have friends/acquaintances that are legit breeders. everyone can have an opinion on that however from my own experience of the legit breeders it isnt about the money but about improving the over all breed. Dont get me wrong their dogs are not cheap but it helps deter people who like the idea of owning a pure bred dog compared to truly wanting that long term commitment. The puppies are taken care of very well and are loved just as much as the parents. All the ones i know have the person purchasing the puppy sign return contracts incase they the new owner can no longer care for the dog and they also keep in contact with the individuals. Majority of the responsible breeders i know also are active in the rescue world, foster rescue dogs, and have reported to me about possible members of the community fighting dogs. we just assume every breeder is a puppy mill and we dont take into consideration the individual story. Dont get me wrong we do our home work on the person and if there is a legit breeder we call our dog warden contact and find out about their history :)
