OPEA currently has an opening for a Membership Representative. This position works with the association’s membership team, other staff, board of directors and OPEA members to organize state employees. The membership representatives identify and recruit members to join OPEA; organize state employees to address worksite issues; Educate and train OPEA leaders to participate in Association activities. Some overnight and extended in-state travel is involved. This position also assists and supports OPEA chapters, leaders and activities and assists, as needed, with OPEA’s legislative program. They will also help answers inquiries from members regarding public employees’ rights and benefits. The person who accepts this role needs be knowledgeable of conditions pertaining to Oklahoma state employment, including Merit Rules and Personnel Act and have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships in an adversarial setting; in communicating effectively and in exercising good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. A four year college degree or the applicant may substitute four years’ experience as a state employee or related occupation for degree requirement. Candidates with experience as an Oklahoma state employee are preferred. The position’s salary range is $32,000 $35,000 annually.
