OPELIKA POST – A crash Wednesday, Sept. 10, claimed the life of a Union Springs man. John Jenkins, 62, was killed when the Suzuki Burgman 6 motorcycle he was operating struck a pedestrian and crashed. Shortly after, a passing vehicle struck Jenkins. The vehicle left the scene and has not been located at this time. The pedestrian was transported to Baptist South with non-life threatening injuries. The crash occurred at 8:35 p.m. on Alabama 223 near the 24 mile marker, four miles south of Union Springs. Nothing further is available at this time as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle that left the scene is asked to call the Opelika State Trooper Post at 334-745-4651 or *HP from a mobile phone.
