OPEN CLASS (Fall 2014) Ever wondered how tornadoes form? How about hailstorms, typhoons, or lightning? Did you know that Southern California has been hit by a hurricane before? There was even a moderately-strong tornado that formed and caused damage near downtown Los Angeles in 1983! If you want to learn more, then you should take Severe and Hazardous Weather (Geography 23 or Meteorology 5) this Fall. We will first learn about the basics of weather and climate. Then, we will discuss a series of high impact weather phenomena, such as thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, tornadoes, El Nino, and climate change. We will also visit the Pierce College Weather Station located on campus. (UC:CSU 3 transfer credits). Professor Jason Finley, Tuesday/Thursday 11:10 am - 12:35 pm in Geog 202, #8186/8187. faculty.piercecollege.edu/finleyjp/
