OPEN LETTER TO BLACK CHURCHES IN JACKSON, TENNESSEE and SURROUNDING AREA’S This letter is in response to the current situation in OUR community. First let me say preface with saying, it doesn’t matter what denomination, sect, or religious persuasion you are associated. One thing all of us have in common is that we are Black, African-American, Negro, Colored or whatever you choose to call yourself. We face the exact same thing. It doesn’t matter if you are Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or of the Yehudi (Jewish) faith. Whether you believe in God, YHWH, Jehovah, Yah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Buddha, or Krishna. That is a personal choice. One, if not the biggest problem in our community is jobs. We as a people own few businesses in our own communities. They are owned by people who do not have our best interests at heart. It seems that any and every one can come into our communities and set up shop. Most, if not all convenience/gas stores/stations, as well as super markets are owned by people other than OUR people. Very few of them, genuinely respect us, their concern is OUR DOLLARS. They give nothing back to our communities yet we continue to patronize their establishments. They employ few if any of our people. Looking objectively, if someone doesn’t respect you, doesn’t hire you, takes your money and invests in THEIR OWN communities, gives nothing back to the same ones who helped them get ahead, yet we still spend money with them, looks to me, in my humble opinion, simply put, dumb. Now what do you think these people say in private about us. This isn’t a race issue, its’ just facts. The Church (I am using the word Church in the general sense, as there are other names for places of worship), has been an integral part of our community for as long as we have been allowed to worship openly. It has been a source of leadership and guidance for our people. We control our own destiny for the most part but we are divided, whether it be religion, class or whatever and that must cease if we are to get out of these current challenges we face. We must put aside whatever differences we have because as long as we remain divided we stand little chance of resolving these issues. CHALLENGE TO YOUR PLACE OF WORSHIP; • To set up some type of savings/ investment group within your place of worship to establish a fund for the SOLE purpose of opening some type of business. (Some members of your own Beth (house) already might have a business, if so contemplate helping them to expand their business); • Seek other Churches to invest with your Beth (THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS), or you with theirs; • Brainstorm on ways to invest in OUR communities so we can employee OUR own • We must come together, and it MUST exclude other races no matter how sincere they appear; THERE CAN BE NO BLACK/WHITE UNITY UNTIL THERE IS FIRST, BLACK UNITY. • Below are some video’s that are on YOUTUBE that will further explain our plight. youtu.be/BEFIe2sjSRw Video’s by Dr. Claude Anderson entitled POWERNOMICS are excellent!!!!!! Em Hotep. (In Peace)
