I had the displeasure of being at the 2002 OPEN at Muirfield. Tiger had won the first two majors looking for 3 in a row. I got off the train, walked over the bridge above the Motor Way and and walked on the back of #10 green. As I was hurrying up the left side of #10 heading for the club house Tigers coming up 10. I walked over to the ropes and was looking right at Tiger for his 2nd shot on #10. ---------- Ive been deer hunting in freezing weather, Goose Hunting in the worst weather Id ever hunted in. Thank you very much dont ever ask me again. Watched many a Friday Night Lights Football Playoff when my Hot Chocolate Froze in the cup but never -- ever have I know cold till that day in 2002. It blew 20 plus off that lake like turning on a fan. Constant. Green pins bend to the to the force and dont come back up. Monty had the wind get under his umbrella on 11 Tee Box and it looked like a potato chip as it went out of sight. It wont be this cold and it probably wont be this steady as Gleneagles is in the Hills ---.The Grand Lady Muirfield is, she gave the morning group a thrashing. But thats her duty. These LINKS Courses are wide open. They are totally defenseless, the wind is her protector. This will give you a very good idea of what 20 + wind over the pond looks and feels like. ---------------------------------------------Constant wind in a formidable golf foe. .
