OPERATIONS MANAGER Location: Arusha/Moshi Summary A reputable tours company is looking for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of all Company Kilimanjaro product. This includes overseeing tours and trekking logistics, management and supervision of all relevant support staff and warehouse/inventory and accounting responsibilities. Superior product knowledge, customer service, teamwork and outstanding communication skills are key to the success of this role. The position holder will be reporting to the General Manager, Africa. Duties: • Supervise all aspects of daily operations of the operating office and trekking logistics, including staff management, warehouse/inventory and transport. • Ensure the company is the employer of choice for all staff in the region and high performance standards are achieved and maintained. • Responsible for the integration and promotion of the company core values and company culture to all employees and customers. • Develop and promote the Company brand through the regional travel industry and business community. • Track and control cost of goods in the region. Ensure trip budgets are up to date. • Ensure tour and operations safety audits are carried out regularly, and that the ongoing safety of our passengers and staff is forefront in all operational decisions and procedures. • Responsibility for establishing and maintaining an effective inventory management system including a purchasing plan for new equipment as required. • Management of office operating budget including submission of monthly office expense reports and coordinating weekly and monthly cash flow with Nairobi and Toronto offices. • Co-ordinate with Toronto operations/Africa General Manager with regards to strategic planning, yield and cancellation management. • Leadership in critical incident management (CIM) as needed. • Actively lead and support initiatives within Operating region and Company wide. • Responsible for renewal of all necessary permits and operating certifications. • Build a strong, friendly and open relationship between the local operations, office and other Company Base Camp and other regional sales and operations offices, as well as the Regional buying and contracting staff. • Ensure excellence in customer service, both internal and externally Recruiting, Training and Administration • Lead climb and office staff recruiting, hiring and training; including but not limited to budgets, manuals, collateral, and scheduling. • Responsibility for all aspects of tour administration • Establish and maintain the monthly schedule for climb teams Communication, Culture and Job Satisfaction • Manage job satisfaction via open dialogue (monthly meetings and other events) Recommend changes and improvements to management. • Oversee the procurement and distribution of Company branded gear with Base Camp • Introduce and improve all climb team to the company social network (G nation, Twitter, Facebook, @gceos email addresses) and make sure they use it regularly. • Be an ambassador of the Company culture and develop a strong company culture within the team of CEOs, cooks and porters. Work Experience / Skills: • 3+ years experience in leading a Kilimanjaro tour operations office • Ability to work legally in Tanzania • Advanced English language skills, both written and oral • Exceptional customer service Qualifications: • Candidate must have 5 or more years in similar role • Candidate must have a relevant Tourism degree or similar • Must have management and leadership qualities Please submit your curriculum vitae via email to: [email protected] Deadline is 12 December, 2014
