OPPOSITION REFUTES PM’S REIMBURSEMENT By Admin The Parliamentary Opposition has refuted Prime Minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo’s claim that Jakarta will reimburse Honiara for the cost of his trip to Indonesia and labelled it as propaganda to cover up his lie that it was fully funded by the Indonesian Government. Opposition Leader, Dr Sikua said the Prime Minister’s claim cannot be true unless the Indonesian President has engaged in cheque-book diplomacy with Prime Minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo to gain his support for concealing the atrocities that the Indonesian government committed against the Melanesians of West Papua. He said the Prime Minister would have done justice to his desperate quest to convince the nation by explaining the contents of the Understanding for the reimbursement. Dr Sikua meanwhile said there was nothing for the Prime Minister to boast about regarding the invitation by the Indonesian President because the Indonesian President only wanted to use him as his puppet. “In fact the trip had nothing to do with Solomon Islands having any clout over the region on any fundamental issues as the Prime Minister claimed in his Press Conference last week.” The Opposition Leader said contrary to what the Prime Minister claimed, Solomon Islands sponsorship of the resolution on the issue of French Polynesia at the United Nations’ General Assembly for its (French Polynesia’s) re-inscription into the decolonization committee was a totally different issue to that of West Papua.
