ORGANIZE CITIZEN ACTION FOR CHANGE AND REFORM Political engagement by citizens and organized groups within the context of our democratic and legal framework is the best way to effect change and reform in our nation. The potency of public opinion to force corrective action against corruption in all levels of government is available to evolved and evolving leaderships, aligned with the cause. Responding to the challenges of anti-corruption with greater vigilance and concerted action, will surely lead to the positive and conclusive outcome of the citizen-led Million People March (MPM) phenomenon. Suggestions for Citizen Action: > Attend and observed the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on PDAF to fully understand the complexities and remind the legislators that "We the Filipino People" demand transparency, accountability and prosecution of all guilty parties in pork barrel scam. Hearings are scheduled every Thursday from 9:00 am to past 1:00 pm and open to the public with prescribed dress code. > Attend and observed the House of Representatives Committee hearings on PDAF to press our demand as electorates and taxpayers to scrap the pork barrel system, suggest solutions to optimize delivery of public services, ensure accountability and prosecution of all guilty parties. Visit, write or call your congressman to register your opposition to PDAF, participate in local development, city and municipal councils as concerned citizens and taxpayers to ensure transparency and accountability of allocated pork barrel funds for the past and current fiscal years. Share verified information online for further action by citizen action and media groups. > Support the leadership and institutions of the Ombudsman, the Department of Justice and Commission On Audit (COA) to perform their duty and responsibility to pursue justice and accountability as mandated by law and as a matter of moral obligation to the Filipino people, regardless of the affiliation of guilty parties, or political pressures brought upon them. Should these institutions and the national leadership fail to respond positively, adequately and in a timely manner, to our legitimate demands as citizens and taxpayers of our beloved republic. We must stand ready to engage with even more action and pursue other options including the prospect of regime change. > Support the various protest action and initiatives launched by various groups against pork barrel and corruption in general, through your individual or group participation and/or contributions in various kinds and ways. All actions against corruption should be supported, with reasonable caution to avoid being used by self-serving interests. We must avoid disruptive actions that may inconvenience the broader society and unnecessarily risk our economic and sociopolitical gains.
