ORIGIN GAME 1 PREVIEW (Use this to help you engage in chat with your colleagues at work if you dont follow Rugby League!) Eating cement isnt even as hard as travelling to QLD to play QLD, not to mention playing the QLD team of now, arguably one of the BEST rugby league sides in the history of the sport. To beat QLD tonight, the Blues will have to be at their damn near best. Some people in the NRL have told me this week the team looks better than EVER, lets hope this translates. On form, this may be one of the better Blues teams chosen for a long time. Suncorp stadium will turn into an airport, if legendary fullback Jarryd Hayne can continue on with his HAYNE PLANE try scoring form tonight. Not many players can match him when hes at his best. The Morris twins? Ive only ever seen sound travel faster. If they can get those boys into some space, theyll find the try line quicker than Justin Bieber can find oversized pants. Also, theres winger Daniel Tupou who is absolutely unstoppable. Watch him perform under the high ball tonight. Dont be surprised if he picks up the first try from a kick. The Blues halves pair will be kicking to him for SURE. Then we get to the halves, the Canterbury pair of Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson - the form halves of the comp that have won 8/10 games this year with the Bulldogs. There arent many players that play with the heart of Reynolds - watch his game changing tackles and offensive plays - hell be one of the most courageous players on the field. And Trent Hodkinson? Hes so cool headed, that when he goes to bed at night, sheep count HIM. Hell kick from the sidelines with every two headed Queenslander giving him stick, and hell execute perfect passes under all sorts of pressure. Thats just how this kid rolls. Origin makes OR breaks players. Trent will be made tonight. In the forwards, Aaron Woods and James Tamou will step up big time, as will heroic skipper Paul Gallen. There will be plenty of miles to the Gallen tonight ;) And the bench? This will make the Queenslanders more nervous than a short supply of bananas. Anthony Watmough will absolutely wreak HAVOC around the rucks, and terrorise the Queenslanders till the death. And as for Canterburys Tony Williams, AKA T-REX - hell swat the Maroons away like flies. Watch his incredible passing game and kicking game - for a bloke who weighs well over 100kgs. According to Bulldogs coach DES HASLER, hes good enough to play halfback. This is not what you want brought onto the field late in the game if youre wearing a Maroon jersey. And as for QLD? Well....where do you start. Boasting the BEST 4 players in the world in Greg Inglis, Jonathan Thurston, Billy Slater and Cameron Smith...this is why they are looking at 9 straight series wins. Its like a soccer team with Beckham and Maradonna, Pele etc. Maybe not quite the same, but you get my drift ;) Im tipping a 18-12 victory to NSW tonight, but ultimately itll be another QLD victory this year, making it 9 straight series. This QLD team is just nearly impossible to stop. One day well look back and say that this is one of the greatest Rugby League sides to ever play the game. When we also factor in 2 home games for them up in QLD, well.....its not a recipe for success. But I hope to god Im wrong.
