OSBC Donates Rs.5 Cr Bhubaneswar : 19/October/2013 A number of organizations and individuals have contributed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) today for welfare of the cyclone and flood-hit people in the state. The Odisha State Beverage Corporation (OSBC), the state owned PSU, has donated Rs 5 crore to the CMRF today. Chairman of OSBC and Principal Secretary Excise S P Thakur presented the cheque to the Chief Minister in presence of the Minister Excise. The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), which is hosting the fifth one-day international match between Australia and India here at Barabati stadium on October 26, has decided to contribute Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in view of the recent back-to-back twin tragedies of cyclone and flood leaving extensive devastation in the State. “Since the State is now battered by the furies of nature, we would take all measures of austerity in conducting the match and the entire unspent amount would be given to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund”, Ashirbad Behera said, adding that OCA’s contribution could be between Rs 75 lakh and Rs.One crore. Apollo Hospital has donated Rs 25 lakh, Odisha Gramya bank Rs 7 lakh; Bharat Masala Rs 2 lakh; Bargarh Puja Samiti Rs 50,000 and Sambalpur’s Seven Hills Residential School Rs 21,000. Among the politicians Deputy Chairperson of the State Planning Board Surendranath Nayak, former MP Bhabni Charan Patnaik and Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja donated to CMRF. While Mr.Nayak has donated his one-month salary of Rs 58,000, Mr.Patnaik has paid Rs 10,000 and Mr.Saluja contributed Rs 19,000. In a sympathetic gesture towards the cyclone and flood affected people, Confederation of Indian Industry, Odisha chapter, extended its support to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today. Mahendra Kumar Gupta, the Chairman of CII, Odisha, and Managing Director of Gupta Power Infrastructure Limited and Bhagat Ram Gupta, Chairman Gupta Power Infrastructure Limited presented a cheque of Rs 10 lakh on behalf of the company. M K Gupta also contributed Rs 2 Lakh to CII Foundation for providing relief materials to Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj. CII under the leadership of Mr.Gupta has sent over 28,000 packets of food materials (biscuits) and 200 solar lamps to the rural flood affected areas. Members of CII have given support in providing relief materials in Ganjam and Balasore.
