OSCAR CEREMONY THOUGHTS: 1. Great speeches by all four acting winners. Lupita and Jared were humble and overcome by their victories. Loved Blanchetts tribute to female-driven films. McConaughey is so darn likable...that I was able to forgive his rambling speech. 2. Will Smith is not of the caliber of past Best Picture presenters. Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep. Steven Spielberg. The recent Razzie winner was out of his league. He also looked messy and underdressed. 3. Liza Minneli...WTF?!? Enough said. 4. Ellen...thought she was strong overall. Way more hit than miss. Loved the selfies and the pizza bit. 5. The Oscar-nominated Best Original Song performances were all terrific. Pharrell Williams was top-notch and actually got Amy Adams, Lupita Nyongo, and Meryl Streep dancing. 6. Bette Midlers performance was randomly placed. Why wasnt she asked to sing over the In Memorium segment rather than after it? 7. Pink has a great voice...period. 8. Tribute to the Wizard of Oz was bizzarely placed in the show. Why werent Judy Garlands children (all three were in the audience) asked to participate in some way? Though Liza probably needed to just stay in her seat. 9. Kim Novak...stop with the plastic surgery. 10. Harrison Ford was dazed and confused. Calista Flockhart looked like a corpse. 11. Goldie Hawn...your looks have finally faded and they have faded fast. She looked rough...and this was not just because she has aged. On the other hand, Kate Hudson looked hotter and happier than ever. 12. John Travolta mangled Idina Menzels name despite having time to practice it at rehearsals. His face was ridiculously stretched, and he could barely open his eyes from all the work he has had done. Face was wrinkle-free...and movement-free. 13. Gravity won 7 awards...well done. 14. 12 Years a Slave...great choice for the top award. Film is so rawn and lacking in melodrama. Steve McQueen just presented the story as real and gritty. No embellishments needed. 15. Jennifer Lawrence tripped again...on the red carpet this time. She laughs at herself. Well-played, Jennifer.
