#OSHA recommends $84k in fines against two #Milwaukee firms in #worker #death MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Federal officials are recommending fines of $84,000 against each of two Milwaukee firms, in the death of a worker in May. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the penalties Monday against Nuvo Constructon and Sonag Ready Mix. 39-year-old Stephen Rauth of Greenfield died on May 22nd, while checking on a machine that had a malfunction. OSHA said Nuvo failed to turn off the machine while it was being repaired. The next day, a Sonag worker was allowed to finish the repairs while the unit was still operating. The violations against both firms were classified as willful. The companies have 15 days to decide whether to pay the fines, appeal them, or seek a settlement conference with OSHA.
