OSIDA hopes its state appropriations are maintained The Space Industry Development Authority said Monday during the Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation budget hearing that they hope to continue offering facilities and services unique to the state without requesting additional funds. “We’re not asking for a penny more than what we got last year,” Executive Director Bill Khourie said. “We understand the state’s challenges. We’ll find ways to deal with the challenges we have now, but in the future we hope things turn around and we have an opportunity to not only dress it up but make it more attractive to the industry.” The authority is requesting $373,000 for fiscal year 2016. They were appropriated $372,886 in FY2015. Khourie said his agency does not just bring opportunity for space tourism, but their facilities give them the capabilities to some of the biggest name aerospace contractors out there. The authority has hangar space and runway size not found anywhere else in the middle of the country, he said, which has lent itself to big business. For the full report, go to ecapitol.net
