OSLO VEST ROTARY CLUB in Oslo, Norway, is pleased to announce that a limited number of our ROTARY YOUNG FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIPS will be made available in 2015 for eligible university students and graduates in the 20 to 30 age bracket. The scholarship program starts on JUNE 14TH 2015 with a five-day seminar at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue [1] in Lillehammer focusing on democracy, human rights and peaceful conflict resolution, arranged in cooperation with the Nansen Dialogue Network [2]. The program continues with 6 weeks of credit-giving courses at the International Summer School [3] (ISS), UNIVERSITY OF OSLO, from JUNE 20TH to JULY 31ST 2015. The objective of the Rotary YOUNG FRIENDS program [4] is to enable the students to participate in building peace, reconciliation and friendship. In addition to the academic program, these scholarships offer young people from a former war-torn region the chance to visit another environment, meet other youth with both similar and different backgrounds, as well as experiencing life in a traditional democratic country. The scholarships cover ALL COSTS for the students, including travel, course/seminar fees, board & lodging etc. This scholarship program is financed by Oslo Vest Rotary Club, other participating Rotary Clubs in Norway, Rotary District 2310, Rotary Club Prishtina International, in cooperation with ISS in Norway. During their stay in Norway, members of the participating Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in Norway will meet the scholarship winners and arrange some social activities. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS· University degree or ongoing university studies.· An interest in humanities and social sciences, as ISS courses cover these academic fields· An active and demonstrated interest in the development of your local community· Active participation in student organizations and/or human rights organizations· An aspiration to hold leadership positions and make a difference in the future, be it in politics, government or business.· A good command of English, both orally and in writing, is essential as all the relevant courses are taught in English. Priority will be given to qualified applicants with restricted means to travel and study abroad. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NUMBER OF APPLICANTS USUALLY FAR EXCEED THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS!....
