OSPREY BRITISH OPEN 2014 First of all what a year this has been, in 25 years of running comps don’t ever remember calling one off, but had to twice this year, bloody global warming !! My major thanks go to Jon Jinks and the directors of Osprey WMG for their support, when in truth not been the best 2 years for selling watering systems, but they are magnificent people and as lots of clubs have found, always happy to help with grant funding applications. Now my personal thanks also to my great team Evelyn Hastings and George and Rita and the 8 clubs that have supported the whole event hosting heats. ROWDITCH, HEATH HAYES, CRADLEY, HESWALL, WOOLSTON, MAGGIES, YE OLD KNOWLE & LANCASTER CC. The whole idea of this comp was to get away from the £25 entries that were becoming comman place and suggest a reasonable level for local bowlers to be able to play in them. This I think we achieved and I think when you look at the last 32 you will see Im correct. Yes the big boys generally didn’t enter but most venues were successful , and I hope I learnt a lot for next years event to be a proper success and full though it will be very different in running it as I intend to highlight at a later time. This years paid entries : 57 rowditch 54 heath hayes 48 heswall 32 woolston 45 maggies 0 ye olde knowle 56 cradley 30 lancaster I do have a blacklist of 18 people who will be reported to BCGBA and blacklisted unless Giving me a total prizefund of 322 @ £7 and sponsorship of £500 totalling £2750 in the kitty which will be paid out in full. LAST 32 David May (Derby) Chris Brown (Woodlands) Richie Gibbs (Derbyshire) Phil May (Derby) Glynn Storer (Stafford) Lee Cavill (Stafford) Ryan Proseer (W&W) Greg Smith (West Brom) Kris Charlton (Wales) Thomas Lowndes (Ellesmere Port) Jamie Smith (Wirral) Sam Bailey (Stoke) John Brown (Warrigton) Stephen Hipwell (Wales) Damien Morrison (Warrington) Mathew Humphries (Warrington) Gareth Herbert (W & W) Gavin Dunkley (W & W) Dave Royce (W & W) Stewart Meddings (W & W) Elliott McGuiness (W&W) Gareth Nash (Derbyshire) Paul Hemming (W&W) Adam Patrick (W&W) Carl Fielding (W & W) Lisa Cox (Burton & D) Dennis Herbert (Birmingham) Mark Ashburn (Cumbria) Bryan Lynch (Cumbria) Dave Liley (Cumbria) Paul Dennison (Cumbria) DRAW BE DONE LATER THIS WEEK
