OSUN DECIDES 9TH AUGUST, 2014 RAUF ADESOJI AREGBESOLA Vs. ORDERS HOLY BIBLE Hebrew: 12:16-17 “Lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears” I will not be laboured you much with the story of Esau and Jacob in the Holy Bible but I wish to remind the people of the South West that developmentally, mentally, commercially and progressively Yoruba nation took the lead when Late Sir Obafemi Awolowo was the premier of Western Nigeria and between 1979 and 1983 the western part of Nigeria still hold sway and the developmental programmes of the West were unrivalled. The first problem between 1957 and 1962 was that of envy of the growth of the Yoruba race and the architect was plotted against, with the collaboration of the British Government and the Northern Oligarchy, they made use of some Yoruba elements to rail road Obafemi Awolowo to prison thereby paving the way for visionless elements to take over the mantle of leadership thus the Arrested Development was introduced as a State Policy to rubbish all the legacy of Awolowo and since then Yoruba has been struggling to rekindle this vision anchor on Social Democracy the philosophy of the political transformation and basically life abundance for mankind. The advent of military in Nigeria politics worsened the situation because growth was stopped, a nation suffered psychological depression, the head was sick and the whole body paralysed , Yoruba suffered mostly, because the mental capacity was high and the psychology of a free people refused to yield to these jackboots, although human endurance is limited the Yoruba race carried on until again light was seen at the end of the tunnel and here are we today another different journey with mixed actors. The military made use of Yoruba elements to hound the martyrs of the struggle, they killed and maimed them, they were imprisoned unjustly, their businesses were paralysed, they were oppressed beyond limits, they were stretched beyond endurance and sorely depressed but they carried on by forming a lot civil societies, human rights groups, socialists movements and regional organisations and forming alliances with other races and they saw Nigeria through the doomed and perilous road constructed by the Military. The mixed actors now include the dunces and nuances and collaborators of the perpetrators of these callous acts. In 1999 the South West Region recaptured what seemed like a lost glory but alas in 2003 the South West Governors fell into the trap [apart from Lagos Governor who saw through the deceit] of another Yoruba president and thereafter the expansionist agenda of the so called Largest Party was brought into light and the Regional Agenda for growth, development and stability was slaughtered once again and rigging and impunity were brought in by People Democratic Party [PDP] to maintain a strangle hold on the Yoruba jugular but a young man Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola the then Commissioner for Works in Lagos State mobilised all who contested gubernatorial elections and were rigged out to challenge the impunity and it was a tough battle in tribunal, some of the stolen mandates were reclaimed and here we are today. I have belaboured you with all these to let you know the background of this piece. The Ekiti misfortune had come and gone with not many thanks to the politics of the ‘Malaysia Rice’. I have been wondering ever since that where were the Ekiti elites before the coming of this catastrophe, what will they tell us when meet at the Nigeria Bar Association, Ikeja [Tiger Bar] Branch that in Ekiti a haunted crook who is still been sought by the EFCC, disgraced from office was declared winner and as a governor of a state that harbours die hard progressives, their silence on this issue makes me believe they are on a vendetta mission against Kayode Fayemi who had laboured tirelessly to raise Ekiti to an enviable status. I heard he disconnected with some people will that be enough to throw away the baby with the water and this is the cross road again in the South West Progressives journey. Mind you Osun is different entirely, as the present occupier of the seat in Abere, Osogbo, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola remains connected and continually, connecting with his people through individual, community, official and the populace still I am not done. Let us place Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola besides other contenders in the race for Osun 2014. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola prepared a manifesto called ‘MY PACT WITH THE PEOPLE OF OSUN STATE’ with the rider ‘People Friendly Government’ [Government that Exists Solely for the Welfare of the People’ and with six point integral action plan which are 1. Banish Poverty, 2. Banish Hunger, 3. Banish Unemployment [Create work/wealth], 4. Restore Healthy Living, 5. Promote Functional Education and 6. Enhance Communal Peace and Progress. Under the first pact he says ‘To make Osogbo the second hub in International Trade in goods and commodities in South West’ and since assuming office he had fulfilled these promises almost to completion but of the pact I wish to dwell on extensively that is No 5 Promote Functional Education. It has ever been UNESCO [United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation] demand and condition that all member States must dedicate at least 26.5% of her budget to education of the people because sound education is seen as the bedrock of a society and that ignorance and illiteracy contributes 80% of the problems in the world, in the State of Osun today Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is spending over 30% of the budget of Osun on education of the people of Osun and making it functional by re-classification of the Schools and giving the students equal opportunity to learn and be instructed in the same manner and on the same pace. This Late Obafemi Awolowo did through the Universal Primary Education [UPE] in the 50s that put a Yoruba child above his peers later in their life, today we have a lot of professors and academicians who were beneficiaries and forever remained grateful to the sage otherwise they would not have had the opportunity to see the four walls of school but for that humanitarian gesture they littered the whole part of the world imparting knowledge. Aregbesola is feeding over 300,000 pupils on every school day who among the contenders will contemplate this and who among them will dare the odds and step into those shoes. He is busy constructing mega schools all over the State the opposition is still appalled and bewildered as to where he has been generating money to finance all those colossal projects. Yoruba knows education is a must for every child and to derail this cultural revolution will be an offence against spirit of the ancestors and a disservice to progressives and unforgiveable sin to the young ones and generation yet unborn. He further strengthens his resolve on functional education through the provision of school uniforms for free and the purchase of 100 School Buses to be conveying the students to their various schools. These students are happier and are showing high commitment into learning, the culture of school discipline has been re introduced, all for the future of the Osun Children. On all other pacts we have seen his commitment to human resources through the empowerment and employment drive, the development of the rural through the construction of roads, electrification, water projects and construction of hospitals and health centres. He has increased the Internally Generated Revenue with a view of reducing the reliance on Federal Allocation which is not forthcoming and as at present The Federal Government at the centre has resolved to dubious means of denying the states in the opposition their statutory allocations in order to force them to cave in to its devious hold on the people. The Agricultural programme of Aregbesola is unrivalled through the cooperative society system. The buy-back policy is making the farmers happy at the end of every harvest all in the commitment to feeding the people of Osun and Nigeria as a whole. We are all aware of his commitment to the effective Transport system the Airport in Ido-Osun, the rail system and the commuter buses. He has been raising the hope of the people again even the Federal Government are busy copying almost all his programmes. IYIOLA OMISORE is of the People Democratic Party [PDP] a purely conservative party with retrogressive tendencies especially in the South West. The reason for PDP abysmal performance in the South West is because it is peopled by low characters, undiscerning minds, sheepish followership and on Yoruba level of intelligence they are under achievers, and grossly disadvantaged in mental ratings. Yoruba is a proud race and always aspiring to be above board so when in 1999 PDP was totally rejected in the South West misfits were mobilised into the ranks to wreck maximum damage to Yoruba march out of the wood again. Their argument runs contrary to sanity, they do not understand the purpose of governance, they see governance as cronies extension where largesse are shared among party loyalists and oppositions are to be oppressed, traumatised, terrorised and be killed at will, their slogan is ‘we are in power’. Iyiola Omisore was the Deputy Governor in then Alliance for Democracy [AD], he was shown out office when he was not ready for the progressive tendency of the then administration. He teamed up with the bad and the ugly and they started wrecking havoc again in Yoruba Land with high profile murders and later became Senator of the Federal Republic for 8 years and he was the House Chairman, Committee on Appropriation. He was awarded the dualisation of 34 km Ife/Ilesha Highway and up till the writing of this piece the road remains uncompleted and abandoned, here is a person who did this to his home land and he is aspiring to govern a state. Other candidates are there but they are pretending to be in the race and we shall discuss them later. MATTERS OF FACT This is not a court of law matter but certainly Osun people will decide their fate for another 4 years on 9th August, 2014. So, let us take this at face value and puzzle it through and let us adhere to internal logic and reasoning as we do not need any imaginary calculation of what we do not understand so we need to highlights in clear terms what we all know and what is our highest good in decision of 9th August. There is a grand design by the PDP to take over South West by all means possible and erodes or arrest developmental projects going on and they have recruited the Leaders of the Pack for this design in the persons of BURUJU KASHAMU or ESHO JINADU, MUSLIU OBANIKORO, JELILI ADESIYAN, SOGO [CUSTOM] and some others. Buruju Kashamu or Esho Jinadu is a fugitive [a wanted person running away from the law] wanted in United States for drug, money laundering and smuggling related offences and almost 14 of his associates had served their prison terms in the United States. At one time he had been detained by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency [NDLEA] in Lagos for more than a year and he never challenged his long incarceration. Minister Musiliu Obanikoro the current minister of State of Defence was at a time the Chairman Lagos Island Local Government Council and he presided over the burning of LAGOS CITY HALL and he has assigned himself the role of the Field Marshal of reclaiming back South West for the PDP. Minister Jelili Adesiyan was involved in Late Bola Ige’s murder that happened to be his first mentor but was later cleared after the mysterious death of then DPP Akande. He led the recent brutal assault against his second mentor and benefactor in Osogbo Senator Isiaka Adeleke. Jelili Adesiyan is the current Minister of Police Affairs. SOGO [Custom] is notorious for his quick dispersal of his perceived or imaginary opponents. In their camp they say ‘the fear of Sogo Custom is the beginning of long life’. AYO FAYOSE the governor elect in Ekiti makes the list likewise Iyiola Omisore. The above mentioned people are the gangster leaders leading the mob to reclaim South West back from the people and to them Ekiti is done, now Osun. This gangsterism completely negates the concept of ‘OMOLUABI’ in Yoruba Land. We must however, note, with serious concern the Alhaji Abubakir Atiku comment that he has joined the progressives in other to prevent one man tyrant in 2015 and that he is not interested in contesting the presidency but to stop the degeneration of democracy into anarchy being orchestrated by Goodluck Jonathan. South West is first in the calculation and they are ready to create a North East fiasco here as the people of Yoruba will become expendable assets that will be expended by the gangsters and some criminal elites. In order to forestall these Osun people must be more vigilant come 9th August, so these gangsters will not ruin the legacy again.
