OSUN DECLARES HIJRAH HOLIDAY The State Government of Osun has declared Monday 27th of October, 2014 as a public holiday in commemoration of the beginning of the Islamic Calendar Year HIJRAH 1436. In a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere, the public holiday is to allow Muslim faithfuls to fully observe the celebration of the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year. It will be recalled that the state government under the leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola last year announced the declaration of HIjrah holiday as a mark of its determination to maintain religious neutrality and ensure strict compliance with one of its administrations six point integral action plan which is enhancing communal peace and progress. All Muslim faithfuls and genuine believers in God were also implored to use the day to pray for divine intervention in the affairs of the nation and for the administration of Ogbeni Aregbesola who will commence its second tenure journey soon to continue to enjoy the Favour of God and impact positively in the life of the populace.
