OTHER AREA FIRES • A new fire was detected 8/27, Combat Fire – 1 acre, 6 Smoke Jumpers are on the fire. This is in the Little Salmon Drainage. • An additional new fire, Goat Ridge is ½ acre and is being managed with the Snow Creek Fire. • Stadium Creek, 1/10 acre, also a new fire, is being managed to allow for fire as an ecological process in the wilderness while providing for public and firefighter safety and protecting values at risk. • The Pagoda Fire has held at approximately 10 acres. The fire is burning in green timber with a high component of dead trees in the area. The fire has been mostly a ground fire although there has been some isolated tree torching. • The Hodag Ridge Fire is estimated at 22 acres. Activity increased yesterday and is moving to the North and Northwest. • The Deer Creek Fire in the Spotted Bear River drainage has remained small (under ½ acre) and is being monitored. • The Rock Creek Fire that started on the Rocky Mountain Ranger District has made a run towards Spotted Bear Pass. This fire was the most active and visible 8/27.
