OUR 25th BOX HAS BEEN DELIVERED The 25th Rotary ShelterBox funded by Southgate Rotary Club has been delivered. Malcolm Shead, of ShelterBox Operations, has written to say that box number UK0070792/3 has been deployed to a desperate family in need, in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. The conflict in Iraq has rarely been out of the headlines this year. More than half of the 1.7 million people forced from their homes has sought refuge in Iraqi Kurdistan. Among those are members of the Yazidi community who were trapped on Mount Sinjar by Islamic State militants and whose plight was seen on TV screens across the world. These life-saving boxes cost around £650 ($1000) each to produce. All the funds are for box contents and transport to disaster areas. They are packed by volunteers in the UK and delivered to disaster areas where ShelterBox rapid response teams are waiting to teach local people to erect the tents.
