On Christmas day two suspects entered a farm house on GV 21. The lady was busy baking when the two armed men entered the house. The lady ran to a room and locked the door. The suspects raided the house and tried to steal two vehicles. They failed to take the vehicles. Only cellphones and jewelry is missing. Northern security attend with Saps and GV SAS who was first on scene. The two suspects were chased into the bushes but not caught. We thank God that the family was not injured. With a gun being pointed right between her eyes, a Silverton bottle store owner used the tools of her trade to fight off three armed robbers on Wednesday by hitting the gun wielding criminal on his head with an empty bottle.Her husband John Halder was shot in the ankle during the armed robbery. “You use what you can,” said Pat Halder, owner of John and Pat’s Place bottle store in Pretoria Road, Silverton.“ I was fighting for my husband’slife,” she said, adding that by Wednesday afternoon, her husband was still in surgery at the Mamelodi Hospital. According to Pat, the robbers struck just before 10h00 Wednesday morning. One of them pretended to purchase a six-pack of beer and said he also wanted to buy R5 Cell C airtime. “He said it out quite loudly and I now realise it was a signal for the two other robbers waiting outside to also enter the bottle store. When he came up to the counter to pay, he took out a firearm and told me to stop with what I was doing,” she told Rekord. In the meantime, the two other robbers had also entered the shop. One of them was armed with a ten inch knife while the other man was also carrying a firearm. “The man pointed the gun right between my eyes at close range,” Pat said, adding that she grabbed the first thing she could – an empty bottle – and hit him on the head. By then her husband had tackled the robber from behind and a shot went off. A fight ensued between John, Pat and the three robbers when another shot was discharged. The bullet hit John in the ankle. The second gun wielding robber dropped his gun – which turned out to be a toy – and the three robbers fled the scene. The other robber also dropped his knife before fleeing. “They got away with R2 000 which I had in my hand at the time they struck,” Pat said. Paramedics were called to the scene where John was treated before being taken to hospital for surgery.The robbery is being investigated by the Silverton police, who could not be reached for comment immediately. “We have had other businesses before and this was the first armed robbery we were exposed to,” a still shaken, very brave Pat said. (R753) (Stefanie) The murder was confirmed FARM ATTACK ON DEMAND RIETFONTEIN STILL LIFE Plotwag Wednesday 24 Dec 2014 The murder of a well-known resident of Rietfontein Agricultoral Holdings in Hartbeespoort Dam, again sent shock waves through the community ...... and on Christmas !! The attack occurred at about 6 am. It appears that the victim was trying to put out food for the dogs when he was overpowered. Several handguns were stolen from the safe broken open. The dog unit was called in, and the trail of the assailants were followed up at a nearby dirt road where a car had picked up the attackers. Several leads are being followed by SAP. Our neighbors house was stolen bare while our neighbor across us was also robbed while our neighbor neighbors next doors house has been stripped. 4 houses in a morning / afternoon. AANVALLE - ATTACKS (Stefanie) MOTORIST FOUND DEAD IN CAR WITH BULLET IN BACK By Chevon Booysen Muizenberg-Wes Kaap: A 60-year-old man was found dead in his vehicle on Prince George Drive on Monday afternoon. The man was found close to Muizenberg Cemetery. Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says the body was discovered near Costa da Gama in Muizenberg at 17:25. “The victim was found lying in the driver’s seat of a white Toyota Corolla. He sustained a gunshot to his back. He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” Van Wyk confirms. A murder docket was opened for investigation. The motive for the murder is not yet known. No arrests have been made.
