OUR DESTINIES ARE THE CHOICES WE MAKE. The wind of change is blowing through Nigeria and by extension Uhunmwonde Local Government area. Whether we like it or not, this growth of youth’s consciousness is a political fact. As youths and people of Uhunmwonde Local government, we are duty bound to create an Uhunmwonde society which respects the rights of individuals - a society in which individual merit, and individual merit alone, is the criterion for a mans advancement, whether political or economic. We must inform and make it clear to the establishment not by words but by deeds that we have the will and the means to take Uhunmwonde back. Our resolve in this direction must be indefinite and our resolve to strike heavy and unexpected blows at the heart of change resisters and ballot box snatchers, by defending our votes by all means possible cannot be overemphasized because change truly has come to those who genuinely seek it. The road to Victory is long or may not be long as we so expect, but we have no right to count on wishful thinking. Be it long or short, rough or smooth, we must mean to reach our journeys end. It is only amazing that the journey for a prosperous Edo state in particular and Nigeria in General has begun in UHUNMWONDE and I am most privileged to lead the charge for a new beginning. Our homegrown Establishment, are still around and may muddy the waters, but they are no longer our main enemy. Our main enemy today is our own bad traits are: indifference to the common good, vanity, personal ambition, selfishness, and rivalry. The main struggle will have to be fought on these fields, if the youths surely seek a true change. There are free elections and an election campaign ahead of us. Let us not allow this struggle to dirty the so-far clean face of our gentle revolution. Let us not allow the sympathies, which we have won so fast, to be equally rapidly lost through our becoming entangled in the jungle of skirmishes for power. Let us not allow the desire for self-aggrandizement, to bloom once again under the stately garb of the desire to serve the common good. The means to achieve this political goal and end is not premised on a particular vehicle. The fear of the establishment denying us the tickets as you have put to me in our several consultations does not arise as I give you all my greatest assurance that I am prepared to run for elective office in Uhunmwonde come 2015. It is not really important now which party or group projects me in the elections of 2015. The important thing is that the winners will be the best of us, in the moral, civic, political and professional sense, regardless of their political affiliations. The future policies and prestige of our Edo state will depend on the personalities we select, and later, elect to our representative bodies. I dream of a economically prosperous and yet socially just Edo State; of a humane Government that serves the individual and that therefore holds the hope that the individual will serve it in turn and of a Legislature of well-rounded people, because without such people it is impossible to solve any of our problems -- human, economic, ecological, social, or political. Uhunmwonde youths and People, your government has returned to you in 2015 with GARRICK KEHINDE OSEMWENGIE IN THE EDO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.
