OUR ECONOMIC CRISIS AND THE ROLE OF THE OPPOSITION Anyone whos holding the opinion that this present government is the cause of the difficulties we are currently facing, is just myopic. KUFUORs administration had its fare share of these accusations so is JDM. Its time we demonstrate that we have some level of intelligence and begin to admit the fact that the current current crisis is cumulative effects of bad management decisions from the past. Attaining a middle income status comes with cash inflow dynamics trends against the country. This is a period of transition when all comfort zones will be affected greatly. It must be understood however that the NPP govt took this decision even though the country was not prepared enough and the understanding of the associated issues was lacking. they failed to educate Ghanaians on the numerous challenges attainment of a middle income status presents so we leaped for joy. Even though NPP govt knows the consequences of becoming a middle income state, they resort to introducing policies that are capital intensive and will place a heavy financial burden on the state. It will interest you to know that NPP used over 4 years to study the single spine but could not implement it knowing the consequences, the decided to approved it within 24 hours of their departure from office, not only that, so many contracts were also signed and workers salary increased by 60%. All of these happen within 24hrs of their departure from office after loosing the 2008 elections. They have also left so many uncompleted projects and contractors unpaid. Most of these projects were in fulfillment of their campaign promises to their strongholds which the NDC govt had to find money to complete. It will also interest you to know that just after loosing power in 2008 most of them resorted to conversion of their monies into dollars and sending them outside the country and continue to encourage others to do same, all in attempt to create an artificial hardship in the country. Unfortunately these same people who greatly contributed to the current situation we are in, are just not ready to contribute anything meaningful to Ghanas development all because they are not in power. They are bent on capitalizing on the current economic crisis which is rather transient to score cheap political points thinking that could give them a chance to come back to power so they steal and distribute state asserts to their cronies at the expense of the ordinary Ghanaian. But with GOD in the boat GHANA will succeed.
