OUR FUTURE TODAY ONE FIJI PARTY Without a doubt, our economy - TopicsExpress

OUR FUTURE TODAY ONE FIJI PARTY Without a doubt, our economy has not been too well. Not only that, it has not truly achieved its fullest potential. Today, let me talk to to you about future tourism/ emerging tourism - a concept that Fiji need to focus on and capitalize its natural resources on and market its beauty and capacity to the world. The Rakiraki - Korovou Highway belt is a significant area that must be earmarked for a powerful government & people partnership thrust toward health tourism, green - tourism, marine tourism, sports tourism, adventure tourism, global retirement schemes, global sporting events coordination centres and movie cities. These initiatives will benefit the people on the ground with employment, improve standard of living, market access, education and global opportunities of upward trending not just for the people in the area but also cause a reversal of the rural - urban drifting. Strengthening Tourism Paradigm shift and making people change their outlook in life and opportunity must be reshaped - and our leaders must stand in a place of responsibility on that! Suva to some is like Bombay to the people of India, says a friend on mine. Its a city of gold and opportunity. The reality is that, it is not! Governments planning initiatives must address providing opportunities where the people are and engaging with the people on the creation of these opportunities so that they can realize their dreams right where they are! Tourist arrival has dropped in the last 2 years. We had a marked decline in 2009 and whilst growth occurred in 2010 and 2011, tourism potential is way less redeemed. Alternative cheaper vacation locations to our source markets has made them re look elsewhere because of better exchange rates coupled with the destination countrys strength of marketing. Our proposal of future trend of tourism and Fijis strength to be marketed will involve an 8 year plan of government endorsed financing/ landowners partnership on development of these future tourism concepts to be a reality. We must re-look at the divine endowment on these isles and build on that to capture our countrys potential. The Bahamas average raking on tourism is estimated at 3 billion a year. It is the only industry they have because it is the only asset on the island given to them by God. They planned, build, marketed, analyzed, re-shaped, re-organized and moved with time based on projected demand of the industry. We have more than that! We have smiles that has won admiration of the world in addition to sand. We can create the environment for great economic exploits, we can lift our standard of llfe and project a better future for our children. Let us all summon a new energy from within ourselves to drive a new Fiji to platforms that we have never been before!
