OUR PEDAGOGY (SUMMING UP) At Grey Street Primary School, “Our purpose is to empower learners for individual excellence, community contribution and global understanding.” At our school we provide curriculum programs and experiences which aim to support your child to achieve this. As a staff, we have worked together to develop an agreed ‘pedagogy’ (which basically means the art and science of teaching). Our teaching and the decisions we make about teaching and learning, are all based on our pedagogy. It’s important to us that everyone in the school community have an understanding of our pedagogy, so throughout the year we have shared our pedagogy with you (section by section), and provided examples of what this might look like. OUR PEDAGOGY: *We are all learners and learn in different ways. *We value and reflect on our learning and take responsibility for this. *We support each other in the learning journey. *At our school: -Relationships are always mutually respectful, reflecting genuine -warmth, caring and sensitivity for people as individuals. -Communication is a calm, considered and respectful process. --Communication can be verbal, non-verbal and visual. *Engagement occurs in a positive, stimulating environment, with personalised learning and active participation. *Staff are organised and well planned. *Success in learning occurs when assessment and data is used to plan and monitor student achievement *Learning Intentions and Success Criteria are used to guide student learning *Feedback received is timely, relevant and given in a positive manner. *We recognise that people working together achieve more than those working alone, while valuing the strengths that individuals bring to the team. *We value and encourage the role parents and guardians play in supporting the learning of their children. *At Grey Street Primary School we own ALL of our students.
