OUR RESPONSE TO NORTHERN ELDERS FORUM: WE JOIN ISSUES WITH PROF ANGO ABDULLAHI ON THE THREAT OF NORTHERN ELDERS TO DRAG GENERAL AZUBUIKE IHEJIRIKA TO THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT IN THE HAGUE The attention of the Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People of Biafra and Bilie Human Rights Initiative (BHRI) has been drawn to a proposed plan by Northern Elders Forum (NEF) led by Prof Ango Abdullahi to drag former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika, to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague over the alleged killing of civilians in Baga, Borno State. Having considered the threat by the Northern Elders and weighed its implications, notwithstanding that much public opinion has already been expressed by many against them, it is our informed decision to respond to Prof Abdullahi and join issues with the Northern Elders Forum. The threat to drag Gen Azubuike Ihejirika to the ICC in The Hague is the most preposterous utterance that would come from the “Islamic Republic of Northern Nigeria” and the “Boko Haram Terrorists Kingdom of the North” which Prof Abdullahi’s NEF represents. The Indigenous People of Biafra will be waiting and praying for this Northern plan to be executed. Gen Ihejirika is one of us, a descendant of the ancestors of Biafraland and one of the remnants that survived the war between Nigeria and Biafra. We shall defend him at all levels. At the moment, we are already in court with the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Suit No FHC/OW/CS/114/2013 in the Federal High Court Owerri, now renumbered as Suit No FHC/OW/CS/192/2013 seeking, inter alia, to exercise our right to self-determination. We decided to pursue only the civil aspect of our case for now even though we have compelling evidence of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by agents of the Nigerian Government against the indigenous people of Biafra. However, as the Northern Elders have reminded us of the international criminal proceedings, we are now ready to commence the criminal aspect of our case in the International Criminal Court in The Hague against Generals Gowon, Obasanjo, Danjuma, Domkat Bali, Haruna, Adekunle, and all officers of the Nigerian Government who participated in the genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in which they killed 3 million Biafrans. We pray, let the legal battle commence immediately between the North and the East. ... Follow the link to read more globalreportersvienna/2014/02/our-response-to-northern-elders-forum.html
