OUR VERY FIRST BUSINESS VENDOR STORY! Take the time to read all about ABC Creations ~ ABC Creations has handmade quilts, placemats, runners, wall hangings, towels, pot holders, trivets and so much more. https://facebook/abc.Creations.57 Owned by Angi Christian Angi tells her story: Ive been quilting for 12 years and started ABC Creations two years ago in September. I started quilting because I found out I was going to have my first grandchild, a boy, named Kaleb. I wanted to make a quilt for him, but I had never sewn before in my life. There was a quilt store a block from where I worked. I was a partner in an income tax business and couldnt start lessons until after October 15, after all the tax extensions were done. Because of my schedule, the owner of the quilt shop taught me one-on-one. I fell in love with the colors, the textures, and the patterns. I went to her shop four to five days a week and she taught me so much. Kaleb was born in February and I had 17 quilts ready for him. I was hooked! Over the past 10 years, Ive taken many classes, and collected many yards of fabric. I have made a wide variety of items for myself, for others, and for the community as donations while I was still working full time. I retired 2 1/2 years ago and started working on all the UFOs (UnFinished Objects) I had started while I was still working and attempting to squeeze in quilting classes. I never had the time to finish everything and I yearned for the time I needed to complete them. I had also collected all of these wonderful patterns that I couldn’t wait to try, and again I never had the time to attempt many of them. Once I retired, I was quilting every day and putting all my finished projects in a chest of drawers. I was talking to Vi Burton about my drawer full of finished projects and she suggested that I should get a booth at the Brookings-Harbor Farmer’s Market at the port. I borrowed a tent and tables from another business and their logo was on the front of it, so I turned that side toward the ocean. I didnt have a sign or even business cards. I started that market in the middle of September, which is the time of year when most of the tourists had already left. We ran clothes line inside the booth and hung table runners and quilts up with clothes pins. I was so surprised that people actually bought product from me. Then as I talked with people at the market, someone told me about the local Brookings-Harbor Christmas Bazaar. I gathered the information I needed, applied, and got in. Roger, a good friend and a consistent supporter of my efforts with the business, put his thinking cap on and gradually and creatively worked to build ABCs vending booth to what it is today. I love putting fabric together, especially for custom orders. I love when people come and pick out their fabric from my collection (we have almost 300 bolts). I love creating new patterns. I love that my product can fit in to any size home and can complement any style. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. It makes me think, and it allows me use a lot of Math, which I love. I have a lot of passion for quilting and the creativity it allows me to express. Angi has so much passion for what she does as you can tell. I went and visited her home because she told me that you had to see it in person to understand her passion. When I walked in Roger was at a table with a bright light above him and he was working on something for Angi. Right away I noticed that the energy in this place revolved around quilting and this business. The creative energy was intense. These two were deep into it and you could feel that warm positive energy as soon as you walked in the door. There were quilts everywhere. There were quilts on the walls, on the furniture, and on racks in the hallway. They were all so beautiful. It was like I had entered Quilt-Land and the Quilt Wizard was Angi herself. Angi told me her story and showed me rooms full of quilts and many, many bolts of beautiful fabric that she was so excited about. Her joy was so evident the entire time we were talking. The quilts tell the story of the joy, passion, and creativity that is a major part of their lives. As a result, their story is colorful and full of beauty. BJW:ms You can bring some of that color and beauty into your home by Shopping Local First with our talented vendor Angi Christian who is the owner of ABC Creations https://facebook/abc.Creations.57?ref=br_tf
