OUT OF THE SNOW BANKS ... A BABY CRIES HELLO Last weekend more than 7 feet of snow—88 inches—fell in parts of Buffalo. Yet, out of the towering snow banks arose a wonderful story of GIVING and THANKS. Bethany Hojnacki was going into LABOR FOR HER NEW BABY ...but the roads to Mercy Hospital were all blocked. Desperate to find help, her husband Jared left their home and was DIVINELY ALIGNED—running into a Buffalo fire lieutenant who recruited colleagues to take Bethany to a nearby firehouse. Quickly putting out the word for medical help, they knocked on the car window of a stranded driver. A GODWINK. Denise Perry was a labor nurse. She was hustled to the firehouse. “Denise helped me get in the right position,” said Bethany. “Two pushes and out she came!” Baby Lucy Grace had entered the world! Meanwhile, other firemen had recruited a MATERNITY NURSE who was stranded by the snow: Stacey Braymiller. “I just made sure the baby was safe and breathing,” says Stacey. They were great, says Bethany. “They just said, ‘we’ve got this, you’ll be OK.’” Jared calls them ANGELS, “God put them right where they needed to be.” Bethany and Jared had previously chosen the name Lucy Grace. “Lucy means light or illumination,” says Bethany, “really, how she came into the world.” •••• As back-breaking as it must have been to clear their sidewalks, driveways, and rooftops, these kinds of warm and wonderful Romans 8:28 stories of GODWINKS, lifted the spirits of Buffalo people! “All things work together for good, to those who love God.” Many Good Wishes for Godwinks!
