Ensure that the Food & Beverage Standards of Service are upheld at all times to meet and exceed the GSS scores. Promote a customer-focused culture within the hotel outlets by developing and encouraging in-house training of all team members. Ensure a consistent guest satisfaction and overall memorable experience in the hotel. With the help of the Sous Chef, assist with menu development, planning and marketing initiatives. On-going training and development of current and new Hosts. Maintain a highly motivated and well-trained Hosts. Responsible for all administrative duties such as payroll, scheduling of Hosts, performance evaluations, performance management and discipline. Prepare schedule for associates with knowledge of the budget progress report. Monitor hours and staffing on a daily basis for each outlet, with accurate scheduling in line forecast and budget guidelines. Open and close shift in accordance with managers checklist. Train, maintain and enforce all Marriott service standards using records, menus and appropriate reference materials. Monitor revenue and check control procedures. Handle daily associate relations (e.g., scheduling, time adjustments). Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment for all associates and guests. Follow all Marriott policies and procedures as outlined in hotel manual. Gather and implement all proper tools for running shift (e.g., schedules, floor plans, reservations). Find solutions for problems such as call outs, last minute bookings or any other daily problems that may arise. Ensure that guests are satisfied by assisting with serving, seating, communication with kitchen and by striving to speak to all guests. Be on the floor during entire meal period and ensure adequate coverage. Conduct taste panels and menu classes on a daily basis for restaurant. Ensure all side work is done on daily basis. Conduct monthly beverage inventories, cost analysis and product evaluations. Manage an effective repair and maintenance program through the use of work orders, inspections, etc. Assist any Host in his/her job performance, when required, to ensure guest satisfaction. Understand and teach empowerment principles to ensure guest satisfaction. Exercise station rotation to ensure stations are distributed fairly. Encourage problem solving by associates through proper training and empowerment. Establish effective communication with associates to gain their trust and respect. Conduct bi-monthly departmental meetings and daily 15-minute trainings. Demonstrate positive inter-departmental relations. Must be available to work variable shifts (evenings, weekends and mornings). Requirements: Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years in food service or related hospitality management. Excellent knowledge of point of sale system (Micros). Bilingual (English & French) preferred. Diploma or Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred. Complexity/Analysis: Excellent decision-making skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Energetic, self-starter, team player. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task. Able to work independently and under-pressure with little supervision.
