OUTRAGEOUS! WRITE a Letter to Editor! You get 20 years for LOOKING AT PICTURES, for God sake! THIS is what undermines respect for our courts, big time! To learn about criminal justice problems/solutions, and what YOU can do about police or prison abuse, Join our fb group page and got to our website (getting started, but already has much good info!) at citizensforcriminaljustice.net I practiced law when the system worked very well indeed; today it is a train wreck! I know the causes, effects, and solutions, so go to our webpage, subscribe to our enewsletter there, and join our fb group page! Kra What YOU can do about police abuse or prison abuse: JOIN those marching in our streets across the nation to protest police not being held accountable for their conduct! Here is what YOU should DO: Contact the U.S. Attorney (U.S. Department of Justice) in your state, IN WRITING – EMAIL AND KEEP A COPY. This is the lawyer who controls Federal Law Enforcement in your jurisdiction (FBI, DEA, ATF, etc). ASK him/her why he/she is not enforcing the laws when it comes to law enforcement officers! With bad cops, name the officer or officers, the police department, describe the incident (date, time, what happened), and demand an investigation. Go to our website: citizensforcriminaljustic.net . Still a work in progress, but lots of useful information is there! You explain the problem of abuse in the prison, and ask him (or her) to send in the FBI undercover, like they did in LA a few months ago. They indicted 18 corrections officers in that investigation, and THAT IS WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN TO IMPROVE THE PROBLEM! GOOGLE “UNITED STATES ATTORNEY FOR xxxxxx (YOUR STATE)” TO GET THE CONTACT INFO, AND THEN START SENDING EMAILS EXPLAINING THE ABUSES AND CALLING FOR THE FBI TO GO IN UNDERCOVER. This is the only effective remedy which will get the attention of out-of control prison guards/officials – a) they seldom are disciplined, b) the union rules make it nearly impossible to fire them, c) the grievance process and internal affairs “investigations” are a complete joke, d) a lawsuit is not the answer because only 1 in 1,000 inmates wins, and then the state, not the people involved, pays any award, and d) justice demands that the law applies to all, and they need to learn this. SEND THE SAME INFO AS A “LETTER TO EDITOR” TO YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS and a couple of national publications! If you do this, and only if enough of YOU do this, you might get some results. If you just sit there, you can be sure nothing will be done to stop these illegal, unnecessary, criminal abuses. Get busy on the keyboard … take a few minutes …. and get people to bombard the local U. S. Attorney – the Federal Department of Justice (same thing – in Washington) to take ACTION! Whatever issue you write about in a Letter to Editor (mandatory minimum sentences, life sentence for pot … couch it as a national problem, because it is! I have over 40 such letters on problems with the criminal justice system “ready to go” = you just modify slightly and add your signature and send them out! Just email me and ask for Letters to Editor! kenabraham3138@gmail–kra Don’t just sit there; work a little to improve your country! With other officials, such as CPS failing to protect children, write Letters to the Editor and embarrass them in the press, and bombard the Governor with emails demanding firing and prosecution of those responsible!! PROSECUTOR MISCONDUCT –Report all bad prosecutors to the Center for Prosecutor Integrity Telephone: 301-801-0608, [email protected], AND to the Bar Association in your state, AND write a Letter to the Editor naming them and describing what they did, and send it to local and to national papers. Couch the problem as a national, major issue, not just your problem (it is!). JOIN our fb group page!
