OUTRAGOUS. The Fire Circle of stones on the Island was the source of more complaints to the Township of Muskoka Lakes. it is all that js left of Wintercamp and it is considered sacred and prepared for the Grandmothers. On Monday Richard Hayes, Fire Chief and nice gentleman from Muskoka Lakes came to let me know they had had complaints about the Fire stone Circle. He knows I want to reduce this nuisance calls they get from the complainers and I like to follow the rules and he knows that. I asked him to let myself or one of my Contacts know if the stones had to be removed and I would do it. Then on Tuesday morning the Head of Public Works from the Township arrived about the same complaint and I explained the plan if the fire stone had to be moved. Jason was very respectful and understanding. Two workers from the Township arrived with Rakes and buckets , they went down and threw the fifteen charred stones into the Moon River. The firewood and char from the fire are gone and I did not see it loaded in the truck. I went down there this morning to see and they have taken topsoil down and grass seed . THIS IS OUTRAGOUS, first of all no need in is all gravel and there is no common grass but there are some natural grasses there that need protecting from the invasive species found in Commercial Grass Mixtures. The Muskoka Lakes people have always been respectful and this is a new theme happening at the Township, I expect by the New Leadership.
