OVER PRODUCTION OF FOOD? The traditional distribution outlets - TopicsExpress

OVER PRODUCTION OF FOOD? The traditional distribution outlets of highland vegetables are La Trinidad, Baguio, Dagupan, and Metro Manila. The other urban areas of Luzon may need exploration and market development interventions. How can there be over production of any agricultural commodity when there are millions of Filipinos who can tell you the commodity in question is not even available to them? Questions of making food available, accessible, affordable and in the process profitable to farmers, including roles and commitments comes into play here. There are certainly many questions and answers. One government intervention in the distribution and marketing of basic food commodities is the set-up of the NFA. Can this be done for other food commodities? Should a democratic government (not a welfare state) even be engaged in the marketing and distribution of food, this way? I wish the questions at hand are easy. I wish I could provide the answers - the solutions. I could not.
