OVERNIGHT/ MORNING NEWS: - Police are hunting dirty crooks who stole a heavy duty vehicle cleaner worth around $60,000 from a property in Werribee last month. It is believed the offender has gained access to the back yard of a Missouri Place property sometime between 5pm on June 20 and 8pm on June 22. The offender has removed the trailer containing the cleaning equipment from under a pergola. The trailer holding the equipment is a 2011 model with registration number W05677 with ‘Diamond Truck Cleaning’ written on the side. Investigators have released images similar to the stolen equipment and trailer. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. - Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has claimed the Hungarian Grand Prix in a thrilling victory, his second Grand Prix title in 2014. Adding to his Canadian GP triumph, the Red Bull driver remains the only non-Mercedes driver to have won a race in 2014. Ricciardo says the F1 title isn’t out of reach and that he can get even better in the second half of the season. The result sees Ricciardo cut the gap to Nico Rosberg in the Drivers’ Championship to 71 points. Former World Champion Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton snatched 2nd and 3rd spot on the podium. - Australias success at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games continues after claiming more gold medals on day four. The Aussies remain on top of the medal tally, extending their narrow lead over England with 73 medals, including 26 gold. Michael Shelly won the Mens Marathon with a personal best 2:11:15. Shelley went one better than in Delhi four years ago, and joined Steve Moneghetti, Robert de Castella and the late Dave Power as male Empire or Commonwealth champions. On a great day for Australian marathoning, Jess Trengove took a bronze medal in the women’s race and five of six Australian representatives ran personal bests. On the track at Hampden Park, Jodi Elkington made it two gold medals for track and field with a win in the Para-Sport long jump T37/38, winning just as the marathoners were receiving their medals. The Rugby Sevens defeated Samoa for the bronze medal, Vivian Dederko, Jian Fang Lay, Miao Miao, Melissa Tapper and Sally Zhang combined for a bronze medal in the women’s team in table tennis and Francois Etoundi finished with a bronze medal in the 77kg class in weightlifting.
